Live Only For an Audience of One
I think the majority of us can say that at some point in our lives we have felt the pressure to please those around us whether it was our parents, our spouses, our children, our friends, employers, leaders in the church, or other peers. Whoever it maybe we just want to keep the peace and make sure they are happy and well pleased. We have even felt the pressure of not being able to please the Father no matter what we do and how hard we try. Beloved, this is called the room of good intentions. In this room you will find self-effort and striving. In this room we constantly feel like nothing is ever enough or that we are absolutely not allowed to mess up. We walk around with masks on always telling people that we are "fine" when we all know behind that mask we are not. But God. He gives us another option. Another room. A room that is free of masks, a room that is full of grace and humility. Where we learn to die to self and become fully dependent on the Lord and believe what He says about us and we come to know who we really are in Him. It is where we find rest. This room is called the room of Grace.
I learned about these two rooms my first semester of ministry school almost a year ago. When I came to the knowledge of this truth it completely changed my life. Being in the room of grace doesn't excuse the sin in our life but it helps us to understand that we do not have to work on our sin alone but in standing WITH God that we can work on it together! We were not created to be slaves but to be Co laborers WITH Christ. God is not a slave driver. He gives His children free will and in return allows us to make choices every day. He doesn't want to use you, instead He wants to work through you. To be ONE with Him!
When we come to the understanding and knowledge of who our Heavenly Father really is and who we are IN Him as His child and that it's ok to just be who He created us to be without the opinions of man and live only by what God's word says we are and trust Him than our lives will begin to change. Our lives change without striving so hard. We change because the Holy Spirit does a work in us that no man can do. It's relationship over religion.
Beloved... live only for an audience of ONE!
1 Corinthians 3:9-11 (NKJV)
9 For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building. 10 According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 3:9-11 (TPT)
9 We are coworkers with God and you are God’s cultivated garden, the house he is building. 10 God has given me unique gifts as a skilled master builder who lays a good foundation. Afterward another craftsman comes and builds on it. So builders beware! Let every builder do his work carefully, according to God’s standards. 11For no one is empowered to lay an alternative foundation other than the good foundation that exists, which is Jesus Christ!
Matthew 11:28-30 (NKJV)
28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am [a]gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30 (TPT)
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.”
